PDF to Word Guide
Convert PDF files into editable Word (docx) documents, preserving text content and layout as much as possible — ideal when you need to edit or reformat the content.
How to use
- Open iloveconvert.com and click the "PDF to Word" icon on the home page, or go directly to iloveconvert.com/en/convert/pdf-to-word/
- Click "Add Files" or drag your PDF into the dashed area; multiple files are supported
- Click the "Convert" button to start
- When done, click "Download" to save the result — individual or bundled download both work
Conversion options
- Smart conversion (default): detects the PDF type automatically — text-based PDFs extract text and layout directly, which is faster; scanned documents automatically use OCR
- Standard conversion: extracts the text layer only. Fastest option, best for native digital PDFs; gives poor results on pure scans
- OCR conversion: forces page-by-page OCR recognition, best for pure image scans, but slower
Notes
- Text-based PDFs give the best results; pure scanned images become image-based Word or require OCR
- Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be converted — remove the protection first
- Credits are counted by page and size tiers — see "How are conversions counted?"
